Duette und Falsette
Nele Jahnke and Hans-Jakob Mühlethaler engage the performers in a lively confrontation with operatic duets in their piece titled Gefühlsklassen im Boxring. Through three pair encounters, they delve into the operatic genre, tackling its inherent contradictions and intricate wordplay.
The team embarks on a performative sparring session addressing questions such as: How can the intense emotions of high culture be liberated? Should these emotions remain so grand? Are the male villains from film and television to be admired or abhorred? They sing about their differences and learn to understand one another, blending themes where Disney meets farewells, pop culture collides with conflict, and Die Zauberflöte intertwines with love. Various emotional classes, attitudes, and viewpoints clash in the ring, revealing new intersections within the music.
