Dreiviertelblut
Prost Ewigkeit is the title of the new live program and fifth studio album by Dreiviertelblut, set to be released in May 2025. The new songs provide a musical companion for troubled souls in tumultuous times.
Since their formation in 2012 by film composer Gerd Baumann and singer Sebastian Horn, Dreiviertelblut has established itself as one of the most distinctive voices in the German-speaking music scene. Their debut album, Lieder vom Unterholz, received critical acclaim and featured their biggest hit, Deifedanz, which enjoys cult status among devoted fans.
With their profound, poetic lyrics in the Bavarian dialect and genre-defying arrangements, each of their albums has a unique and unmistakable character. Prost Ewigkeit is no exception. The new songs take listeners on a journey through the highs and lows of human existence, revolving around themes of love, pain, happiness, intoxication, loss, wisdom, folly, and the eternal search, culminating in a journey to the moon.
Dreiviertelblut, often associated with a dark Bavarian aesthetic, strikes a hopeful tone with their new music. In times marked by crises, the band addresses these challenges with their characteristic lightness, revealing the insight that we find security in togetherness and beauty in existence. With the message that nothing remains and nothing ceases, that everything is both trivial and significant, they toast to eternity.
In an era that feels overshadowed by impending doom, the album serves as a call against burying one's head in the sand. It advocates for creating good, thinking positively, and projecting goodness into the future, as anything less would equate to resignation, as Gerd Baumann explains about the album. Sebastian Horn adds, Prost Ewigkeit definitely carries the darker side of Dreiviertelblut's nature, but also showcases many facets that strive for the light. I would describe the album as a transition from the rooted to the ethereal.
