Dee Dee Bridgewater is not only a fearless pioneer and guardian of tradition but also a bridge-builder between genres. She gained recognition as a member of the legendary Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band and has collaborated with jazz greats such as Max Roach, Sonny Rollins, and Dizzy Gillespie. Since the 1990s, she has become a star in her own right, founding her label in 2006 and producing her albums.

In addition to her Grammy-winning jazz career, Dee Dee has made her mark in musical theater, winning a Tony Award for her role as 'Glinda' in 'The Wiz' in 1975 and receiving a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for her portrayal of Billie Holiday in 'Lady Day.'

As a socially engaged artist, Dee Dee is also a UN Ambassador and co-founder of The Woodshed Network. Her current program, 'We Exist!', reflects on the ongoing journey of social change, connecting past and present through powerful protest songs like 'Mississippi Goddam' and 'The Danger Zone.' The concert will feature her exceptional voice alongside talented musicians: Carmen Staaf on piano, Rosa Brunello on bass, and Shirazette Tinnin on drums.
