Castalian String Quartet
Join us for an enchanting evening of classical music featuring the renowned Castalian String Quartet. Formed in 2011, this British ensemble has rapidly risen to prominence on the international music scene. The quartet studied under Oliver Wille at the Hochschule für Musik in Hannover and received significant support from the Young Classical Artist Trust (YCAT) from 2016 to 2020.
The Castalian String Quartet has garnered numerous accolades, including first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Lyon in 2015, the Merito String Quartet Award in 2018, and the Valentin-Erben Prize. They were also honored with the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship. In 2019, they were named Young Artist of the Year at the Royal Philharmonic Society Awards, and they are currently the first Hans Keller String Quartet in Residence at the University of Oxford.
In the 2024/25 season, the quartet will make its debut at notable venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin and Concertgebouw Brugge, as well as in chamber music series in Turin and Helsinki.
