Benjamin Truong: Hörst du mich?
How does one talk about feelings when the space for such discussions has never felt familiar? What forces come into play when communication with parents fails? Is the language barrier to blame? As the first generation to confront these questions, three protagonists attempt to translate their silence. Hörst du mich? is a theatrical development that explores the failures of communication and language from the perspective of second-generation Vietnamese Germans. It narrates the everyday conflict of balancing two cultures, multiple identities, and a sense of generational loneliness. The aim is to create a space where affected individuals can find belonging, whether in cultures, languages, or within themselves.
