Bau mit! - München baut
In the city, there are many exciting things: residential buildings, schools, roads, playgrounds, subways, museums, and train stations. But who comes up with all of this? Who builds it? And what actually happens on a construction site? In the exhibition "Bau mit! - München baut," children can help out themselves! With a large crane, they build walls with real bricks, erect giant towers from bamboo, and construct a roof over them. While doing this, they discover playfully why a house doesn't just fall over and what is needed to build one. They also learn how water, electricity, and internet connections are integrated into buildings and even work as architects, designing their own construction projects in a small office.
The exhibition is an educational adventure centered around urban construction. At the interactive stations, children can experiment with different building materials. They learn how houses function and why certain shapes, like arches or towers, are particularly stable. The exhibition also shows how a city changes, both above and below ground, and highlights the people who work on construction sites and are influenced by the buildings. Children and teenagers will learn to observe closely and engage in discussions about their city and surroundings. Perhaps they will even contribute to designing our cities in the future!
