Ausstellung der Ausstellungen
The Ausstellung der Ausstellungen at the Haus der Kunst takes place in the Southeast stairwell and complements the historical documentation in the archive gallery. Designed as a walkable chronicle, this exhibition provides visitors with a comprehensive overview of exhibitions since the 1990s and invites them to witness the transformation of Haus der Kunst into a significant global center for contemporary art.
Founded in 1992, the non-profit Foundation Haus der Kunst Munich operates under a model of public and private funding. To date, Haus der Kunst has organized over 300 exhibitions, including numerous significant projects with artists that have initiated a sustainable transformation process. These projects have led to altered perspectives on art history, innovative curatorial approaches, and ambitious exhibition concepts that have been expanded and rethought both in content and form.
This chronicle is the result of ongoing archival work that documents the history and artistic programs of Haus der Kunst. It serves as a basis for a multifaceted reflection that goes beyond the history of the institution itself, enabling a critical engagement with the past and present to open the eyes for the future.
