Red carpet for the anniversary edition

It has become a firm tradition for us to transform our theater into a grand cinema hall once a year. This spring, we will once again roll out the red (film) carpet for the DOK.fest Munich. On May 7, we will present the first major premiere, followed by additional film screenings until May 11.

Time for a Retrospective

The film festival in Munich is taking place for the 40th time. This is an ideal moment for a retrospective, which is also this year's motto. "Since its inception, our program has dedicated itself to all essential themes and stories, including the less pleasant aspects of our world. Given the current political and societal developments, it is more important than ever to adopt unexpected and new perspectives on the world," explain the festival directors Daniel Sponsel and Adele Kohout. And this is precisely what documentary film can do: it allows us to look closely and foster empathy.

Together with our managing director Thomas Linsmayer, the festival will be inaugurated on May 7.
