4. Akademiekonzert: Markus Poschner
Join us for the 4th Akademiekonzert featuring the renowned conductor Markus Poschner. This concert will present Pjotr Tschaikowski's Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35, a significant piece that reflects Tschaikovsky's journey of self-discovery following the turmoil of his ill-fated marriage. Unlike his Fourth Symphony, this work does not convey despair or a narrative; instead, it subtly explores the individual's quest for belonging and connection within society. The choice of D major, the same key as Beethoven's Violin Concerto, showcases the composer's confidence in handling the symphonic form.
The soloist for this evening will be Leonidas Kavakos, who made his debut with the Bayerisches Staatsorchester over a decade ago with Brahms' Violin Concerto. Also on the program is Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55, 'Eroica', which Poschner interprets with a contemporary lens, revisiting its political themes relevant to today's world. This promises to be a remarkable debut for Poschner at the Bayerische Staatsoper, setting high expectations for the performance.
An introduction will take place 45 minutes before the concert in the Capriccio-Saal. Please note that seating is limited.
