Eurovision Contestants Abor & Tynna Unfamiliar with Stefan Raab

Sun 23rd Mar, 2025

The Austrian music duo Abor and Tynna, who recently emerged victorious in the German Eurovision Song Contest pre-selection, have revealed their limited familiarity with the prominent figure of Stefan Raab, a key player in the contest's history. Despite Raab's significant contributions to Germany's Eurovision success over the years, the siblings admitted that they had only known of him by name prior to their application.

Tynna expressed that she and her brother were not well-acquainted with Raab's legacy or the impact he has had on the Eurovision platform. She disclosed to media sources that while she had heard of Raab, she did not fully grasp his influential role in shaping the contest in Germany. The duo's upbringing, which lacked a television at home, contributed to their limited exposure to his work. While Abor recognized the title of Raab's popular TV show, 'Schlag den Raab', he could not confirm whether he had actually seen it, as his knowledge was primarily based on hearsay from family.

Raab is often regarded as a 'Eurovision guru' in Germany, having played a pivotal role in the country's participation in the event. His tenure as a host and musician culminated in a notable victory in 2010, when Lena Meyer-Landrut won the contest with her hit 'Satellite'. Under Raab's mentorship, Abor and Tynna participated in this year's German pre-selection event, known as 'Chefsache ESC 2025', which ultimately led to their selection for the upcoming Eurovision competition in Basel.

Abor and Tynna will perform their song 'Baller', a track featured on their recently released album 'Bittersweet'. The album showcases their unique sound and artistic vision, which they hope will resonate with audiences at the Eurovision stage. As they prepare for this significant opportunity, the duo has begun to familiarize themselves with the rich history of the contest and the influence figures like Raab have had on its evolution.

With their participation in Eurovision, Abor and Tynna aim to connect with a broader audience and make a mark in the competitive landscape of international music. Their journey is emblematic of the diverse and evolving nature of the contest, which continues to serve as a platform for emerging artists from various backgrounds.
