Dramatic Incident in Mainz: Light Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing

A light aircraft experienced a dramatic emergency landing at Mainz Airport on Friday night. According to reports from local authorities, the aircraft skidded down the runway with its landing gear retracted. Fortunately, both occupants of the aircraft emerged uninjured.

The preliminary assessment suggests that a technical malfunction may have been the cause of the incident. Authorities have initiated further investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the emergency landing.

Following the mishap, multiple units from the Mainz fire department spent nearly three hours attempting to raise the 1.4-ton aircraft to deploy the landing gear. The damaged plane obstructed both the runway and taxiway, necessitating its subsequent removal.

Airport operations are expected to return to normal over the weekend as the authorities work to ensure safety and efficiency on the ground.
