Mon 10th Feb, 2025

Elon Musk, the world's wealthiest individual, has once again stirred controversy by targeting a prominent German politician. This time, the focus of his ire is Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck from the Green Party, whom Musk recently disparaged on the social media platform X.

The incident unfolded when Musk shared a post from Naomi Seibt, a far-right influencer known for her controversial views. Seibt had accused Habeck of hypocrisy for filing 800 complaints regarding hate speech while simultaneously claiming to defend genuine freedom of expression. Responding to her remarks, Musk expressed his disdain for Habeck, referring to him in derogatory terms.

This post has garnered significant attention, reportedly reaching over 20 million users shortly after it was published. Musk's comments add to a pattern of behavior where he engages with German politics, often expressing opinions that align more closely with right-wing ideologies.

In previous interactions, Musk has also targeted German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, labeling him a "fool" and calling for his resignation in the wake of a violent incident in Magdeburg. He has further described German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier as an "anti-democratic tyrant."

Seibt, a 24-year-old German who has been dubbed the "Musk Whisperer," has cultivated a relationship with the tech mogul. She has indicated that their political beliefs align closely, which she attributes to their shared values. Currently, Seibt resides in the United States, where she continues to promote her views.

This latest incident highlights the ongoing intersection of social media, politics, and celebrity influence, raising questions about the role of public figures in political discourse. Musk's vocal support for figures like Seibt and the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party underscores a growing trend of high-profile endorsements within political movements that challenge traditional democratic principles.
