As Easter approaches, the weather in Germany is shaping up to be a blend of sunshine and occasional rain, rather than the clear skies or persistent downpours some might hope for. According to meteorological experts, the forecast indicates a changeable weather pattern throughout the Easter weekend.
Diplom-Meteorologist Dominik Jung from wetter.net noted that while there will not be continuous rain, the ongoing drought remains a concern, as Germany has only received an average of five liters of rain so far this April, significantly below the expected levels.
Dr. Karsten Brandt, a climatologist from Donnerwetter.de, mentioned that despite the mixed forecast, there are indicators that the dry weather experienced in recent weeks could return, which could be beneficial for those enjoying the Easter holiday. The Global Forecast System (GFS) models predict stable high-pressure systems extending into May.
Currently, a low-pressure system over England is influencing the weather pattern in Germany, leading to increased cloud cover and cooler temperatures. The forecast for Easter Monday suggests potential rain showers across various regions.
Meteorologist Jacqueline Kernn from the German Weather Service (DWD) explained that while low-pressure influences will bring rain and thunderstorms at times, Saturday is expected to be predominantly dry. She emphasized that the best chances for sunshine will be in the southern and eastern parts of the country, while the western and northern regions may see less sun.
For those planning outdoor activities during the holiday, the conditions appear favorable, although it may not be dry everywhere at the same time. Kernn reassured that a pleasant walk outdoors is certainly possible.
The weather breakdown for the Easter weekend is as follows:
Overall, while the Easter weather may not be perfect, it presents opportunities for outdoor activities, particularly on Saturday and Sunday, making it a suitable time for family gatherings and celebrations.
