Bielefeld, Germany - A serious accident occurred late on Sunday evening in Bielefeld, resulting in two teenagers on an E-Scooter suffering severe injuries. The incident took place around 10 PM in the city center of Bielefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, when an 18-year-old novice driver collided with the young riders, aged 15 and 17.

The two teenagers were riding together on an E-Scooter, traveling on the wrong side of the sidewalk. They reportedly approached the intersection at high speed and did not stop at a red traffic light. The driver, a young woman operating a VW vehicle, failed to notice the teenagers as they suddenly emerged from behind a building.

Upon impact, both riders were thrown onto the pavement, sustaining serious injuries. Emergency medical services were dispatched immediately to the scene, where it was necessary for a physician to perform intubation on one of the injured boys due to the rapid deterioration of his condition. The medical team assessed the situation as critical and transported both individuals to specialized hospitals via ambulance.

The driver of the VW sustained minor injuries and was in shock following the incident, along with her 21-year-old passenger. The vehicle incurred significant damage and was subsequently towed from the scene. Authorities estimate the total cost of damages at approximately EUR4,000. The police closed off the intersection to conduct a thorough investigation of the accident.

This incident highlights the ongoing concerns regarding road safety and the responsibilities of both drivers and E-Scooter riders. Local officials are urging increased awareness and adherence to traffic regulations to prevent such unfortunate events in the future.
