On March 1, 2025, a serious traffic incident occurred in Ribnitz-Damgarten involving a 60-year-old female driver who collided with a traffic light on two separate occasions. The accident took place around 7 PM on the L22 road as the driver attempted a maneuver at an intersection.

During her attempt to turn her vehicle, she first struck the traffic signal head-on. Instead of successfully completing her turn, she then collided with the same traffic signal again, causing significant damage to both her vehicle and the traffic light installation. Fortunately, despite the impact, both the vehicle and the signal remained operational.

Authorities were alerted to the incident, and an alcohol breath test was administered to the driver, revealing a blood alcohol concentration of 1.92 promille, significantly above the legal limit. Following the results of the test, law enforcement officers ordered a blood sample to be taken for further analysis.

In addition to this, the driver's driver's license and keys were confiscated as part of the investigation. A formal report was filed against her on suspicion of driving under the influence, which could result in serious legal consequences.

The incident highlights the dangers associated with impaired driving and serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic laws. Local authorities continue to monitor such cases closely to ensure public safety.
