Driver Flees Scene After Causing Two Accidents in Siegburg

In Siegburg, a young man reportedly caused two separate traffic accidents on Thursday afternoon and subsequently fled both scenes. The incidents occurred on Mittelstraße, where a witness observed a driver operating a black SUV with Kölner license plates striking a parked VW Caddy multiple times while attempting to park, resulting in damage estimated at approximately EUR1,500. The witness attempted to engage the driver, who was noted for wearing a brightly colored top, but he left the scene without acknowledging the damage.

Authorities were notified, and while en route to the first accident, police received a report of a second collision involving the same vehicle. This subsequent incident took place on Zeithstraße, right before the traffic light leading to Bundesstraße 56 (B56). The SUV struck a stationary Toyota, which was then pushed into a Nissan parked in front. Fortunately, the two occupants, both 50-year-old women from Lohmar and Troisdorf, were unharmed. The damage from this accident was estimated at around EUR2,500. The driver of the black SUV, again described as a young man in striking clothing, made a right turn onto the B56 and fled the area.

Despite witnesses providing the vehicle's Kölner license number, authorities struggled to locate any corresponding records in the traffic database. However, officers recalled a previous traffic stop earlier in the year involving a black SUV with Kölner plates, where a young man from Lohmar was found driving with false license plates and under the influence of drugs, without a valid driver's license. At that time, he had undergone a blood test, and the unregistered vehicle, along with its plates, had been confiscated.

Given the similarity in vehicle description and witness accounts, police dispatched a unit to the suspect's residence in Lohmar. Upon arrival, they found the black SUV parked outside, which displayed recent damage consistent with both reported accidents. The driver was also present but declined to comment on the allegations against him. Following a drug test, which returned positive results for cocaine and amphetamines, the suspect was taken to the police station, where he was required to provide a blood sample. The black SUV, which again bore false plates from a decommissioned vehicle, was seized to ensure public safety and as evidence.

The individual from Lohmar now faces potential legal action concerning a range of traffic offenses stemming from these incidents.
