Kaufungen - A 32-year-old man caused a significant accident on the K7 road between Kaufungen and Helsa on Tuesday evening, subsequently fleeing the scene on foot. The fire department utilized a drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera, which ultimately led to locating the man after approximately three hours. He was found on a hunting platform in a nearby forest area. Fortunately, he did not suffer any injuries; however, it was determined that he was under the influence of alcohol, which likely influenced his decision to flee.

In addition to the vehicle damage, approximately EUR5,000 worth of harm was inflicted on a tree and a guardrail.

Authorities also confiscated the driver's license, and blood samples were taken to assess his blood alcohol concentration. The K7 roadway was fully closed to traffic until 2:30 AM as investigators worked at the scene.
