Trial Begins in Dortmund Over Years of Sexual Abuse Within Family

A court in Dortmund has begun the trial of a man accused of repeatedly sexually abusing his younger sisters over several years, beginning when he was just 14 years old. The defendant, identified as Philip G. from Hamm in North Rhine-Westphalia, faces serious allegations of sexual abuse committed against his siblings.

According to case details, the initial incident reportedly took place on Philip G.'s 14th birthday. At that time, his older sister was 10 years old. It is alleged that further offenses were committed against a younger sister in the years that followed. The prosecution states that the abuse continued over an eight-year period, resulting in the defendant being charged with a total of 181 offenses.

The incidents are said to have occurred in different locations as the family moved homes. During the family's residence in Kamen, the abuse allegedly took place in the attic of their house, while later, after relocating to Bergkamen, the setting reportedly shifted to the basement. Information from the investigation suggests that the parents were unaware of the abuse, as the incidents supposedly happened at times when the parents were either asleep or at work.

After more than two decades, the victims found the courage to come forward and report the abuse to the police. Their statements led to the opening of a criminal investigation and the subsequent trial. The proceedings are being held behind closed doors, as the defendant was legally considered a minor at the time the alleged offenses began. This measure aims to protect the privacy of those involved and comply with youth protection regulations.

During the initial trial session, the public prosecutor outlined the charges, emphasizing the long-term impact and gravity of the offenses.
