Detmold experienced a significant traffic incident on Saturday afternoon involving a collision between two vehicles on Remmighauser Straße. The accident occurred when a 25-year-old driver from Barntrup attempted to make a left turn and failed to notice an oncoming Audi.
The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the 42-year-old Audi driver from Detmold becoming trapped inside his vehicle. Emergency services, including firefighters, were dispatched to the scene to extricate him.
Both individuals involved sustained injuries from the crash. The Barntrup driver received outpatient care and was subsequently released. In contrast, the Audi driver sustained serious leg injuries and was admitted to Klinikum Detmold for further treatment.
Authorities from the Lippe police department were present at the site, with assistance from a traffic accident team from Paderborn to manage the situation and conduct an investigation. Both vehicles involved in the accident were rendered inoperable and were subsequently towed away from the scene.
As a result of the incident, Remmighauser Straße was closed in the direction of Remmighausen for approximately four hours to facilitate the emergency response and investigation.
