The travel operator Dertour, part of the Rewe Group, has announced the acquisition of the Swiss travel company Hotelplan Group from the Migros retail group. This strategic move aims to bolster Dertour's presence in Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

The acquisition encompasses four out of five business units of Hotelplan Group, focusing on travel agency services and tour operations across Switzerland, Germany, and the UK. Notably, the holiday home specialist Interhome is excluded from this deal. While the details of the purchase price have not been disclosed, the transaction marks a significant expansion for Dertour.

Ingo Burmester, a member of the executive board at Dertour Group, emphasized that the integration process will be seamless for customers, travel agents, and distribution partners of Hotelplan Group. He assured that whether customers book through Hotelplan or Migros Ferien, their experience will remain unchanged.

Dertour currently employs over 10,000 staff members and operates in various sectors within the travel industry. The Hotelplan Group, headquartered in Glattbrugg, Switzerland, specializes in leisure and business travel services and reported a revenue of 1.78 billion Swiss francs in 2024, supported by a workforce of approximately 2,500 employees.

This acquisition is expected to enhance Dertour's market share and operational capabilities, allowing for a more comprehensive range of travel services to meet the growing demands of travelers in these regions.
