The intimate poetry of the Elizabethan Golden Age is set to music in Robert Jones' Second Booke of Songs (London 1601), "set out to the lute and bass viol by tablature after the lyre fashion."

Il Gioco Della Cieca - Madrigals, Canzoni & Villanelle for Singing and Playing
The Swiss quintet Concerto di Margherita combines instrumental play on theorbo, viola da gamba, Baroque guitar, harp, and lute with the sound of their own voices to stage a fable about the (in)visibility of love. They will perform works by Italian composers from the 16th and 17th centuries, including Francesca Caccini, Sigismondo d'India, and Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger. This concert's central theme revolves around the confusions of lovers who, despite their connection, often grope in the dark like in a game of "Blind Man's Bluff."

Cipriano de Rore and Orlando di Lasso - Meeting of Two Court Kapellmeisters
The sibylline prophecies, interpreted as pre-Christian prophecies since the Middle Ages, form the basis of Orlando di Lasso's collection "Prophetiae Sibyllarum," featuring twelve four-voice motets. With bold intervals and chromatic sequences, this collection ranks among the most fascinating works of the late Renaissance. In the magnificent Antiquarium of the Residenz, the motet cycle, in combination with Cipriano de Rore's "Missa Doulce Mémoire," unfolds its full splendor through the male ensemble of the Augsburg Cathedral Choirboys.
