Police Seize Cocaine Hidden by Suspects in Herzogenrath

In the early hours of Thursday, authorities in Herzogenrath apprehended two Romanian men, aged 39 and 41, during a routine border control operation. The men were traveling by car from the Netherlands when they were stopped by federal police around 2 a.m.

During the inspection, officers discovered a substantial amount of cocaine concealed in the driver's intimate area, amounting to approximately 113 grams. Additionally, the passenger attempted to mislead the police by presenting a forged identity card. Upon further search, authorities found around 148 grams of cocaine hidden similarly on him.

Both individuals were taken to the federal police station near the main train station for further processing. They now face charges related to possession and importation of controlled substances. Furthermore, the passenger will be charged with identity document fraud. The driver, who was unable to provide a valid driver's license, is also subject to investigation for this offense.

After the initial processing, the suspects were transferred to the local police department in Aachen, where they are scheduled to appear before a judge.
