The Central Committee of German Catholics (ZdK) has initiated a reform process aimed at modernizing the Church in Germany. With the upcoming papal conclave, there are rising concerns regarding the potential election of a conservative candidate as the next pope.

Irme Stetter-Karp, the president of the ZdK, expresses hope that the successor to Pope Francis will carry forward the path of openness that he has established.
