Bremerhaven experienced a traffic incident late Thursday evening involving a 56-year-old driver who reportedly failed to stop at a red traffic light. The collision occurred shortly before midnight at the intersection of An der Mühle, Metzerstraße, and Voßstraße.
According to local authorities, the driver was traveling westbound when he entered the intersection despite the traffic signal indicating red. He subsequently collided with a Nissan driven by a 29-year-old man approaching from the left.
Fortunately, both drivers emerged from the incident without any injuries. However, the Nissan sustained significant damage and was rendered inoperable, necessitating its towing from the scene. Police estimate the total damage from the accident to be approximately EUR10,500.
This incident underscores the importance of adhering to traffic signals to ensure the safety of all road users. Traffic regulations are in place to prevent accidents and protect drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, and any further updates will be provided as they become available.
