Second Houthi strike in two days hits Riyadh airport

A projectile struck King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Sunday, sparking a fire in one of its passenger halls, according to a Saudi military spokesman. Saudi Arabia's civil aviation authority said one person, a Pakistani resident, was killed in the attack, with 11 others injured.

The strike came a day after an earlier attack on the same airport left 13 people dead and 308 injured, following a series of similar strikes earlier in the week.

The Houthi movement in Yemen has claimed responsibility for the attacks and cautioned airlines and travellers against using Saudi airports and airspace. The group said it had used a combination of ballistic and cruise missiles along with drones in the latest 24-hour period of attacks.

Houthi military spokesman Brig Gen Yahya Saree said the group had also struck oil facilities and Dammam airport in eastern Saudi Arabia. He said operations deep inside Saudi territory would continue to intensify, adding that all Saudi airports could be targeted except those in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
