As temperatures rise, many residents of Brandenburg are keen to embark on cycling adventures. The Allgemeine Deutsche Fahrrad-Club (ADFC) has compiled a list of recommended cycling routes across various regions of the state, catering to both casual riders and enthusiasts.

One notable recommendation is a tour through the Oderbruch region in the east, which follows the historic Oderbruchbahn from Fürstenwalde to Müncheberg, covering a distance of 38 kilometers. This route was once a vital transport link with over 40 train stations along its 110-kilometer stretch. Today, cyclists can enjoy the scenic views interspersed with opportunities to sample local fruits from the numerous orchards and berry bushes lining the former railway path. For those seeking a longer ride, the route can be extended towards Poland.

In the northern part of Brandenburg, two routes stand out for their natural beauty. The Seentour around Oberuckersee spans 25 kilometers, beginning and ending at the Seehausen train station. This tour meanders through the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve, where riders may encounter rare flora and fauna, including the European Trollblume and various bird species such as the fish eagle and beaver. The small village of Stegelitz offers a chance to rest in the local brewery garden and taste regional beers.

Another highlight is the Stechlinseeradweg, a 40-kilometer route considered one of Brandenburg's most picturesque bike paths. Starting in the historic town of Gransee, cyclists can explore attractions such as the Nature Park House Stechlin and the artisan village of Neuglobsow before reaching the scenic Fürstenberg. Along this route, cyclists can stop at the clear waters of Stechlinsee, known for being the deepest lake in Brandenburg and home to the famed Stechlin marène, a local fish delicacy.

The western regions of Brandenburg also offer unique cycling experiences. The Kleine Fläming Tour, measuring 38 kilometers, takes cyclists past the Eisenhardt Castle in Bad Belzig to Wiesenburg Castle. This journey follows the Europaradweg R1, allowing for detours to visit local attractions such as the eco-farm in Schmerwitz and the artistic village of Borne. Notably, the route also leads to the highest point in Brandenburg, Hagelberg, where riders can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

In the southern part of the state, the Von Elster zu Elster route spans 44 kilometers, winding through the Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft Nature Park. This path showcases the region's historical transformations, with remnants from the past such as the realignment of rivers. Noteworthy stops include the Kurpark and town center of Bad Liebenwerda, and the Brikettfabrik Louise in Domsdorf, which offers insights into the region's industrial heritage.

Finally, the Müggelseeradweg in the capital region covers 28 kilometers along one of Berlin's most popular lakes. Cyclists can learn about the history of Berlin's water supply at the Old Waterworks in Friedrichshagen and enjoy the vibrant summer atmosphere around Müggelsee, which features numerous cafés, restaurants, and swimming areas.

With these diverse cycling routes, Brandenburg is poised to become a favored destination for cycling enthusiasts seeking both adventure and scenic beauty.
