Man Arrested for Stealing from Hospital Patients in Berlin

A 28-year-old man was apprehended for allegedly stealing from a fellow patient in a Berlin hospital on Sunday afternoon. According to police reports, the incident took place at a medical facility located in the Tiergarten neighborhood of Mitte.

The suspect had visited a friend in the hospital, but during his visit, he reportedly took a wallet containing cash, keys, and a mobile phone belonging to another patient, also aged 28. The theft was discovered shortly after the items went missing, prompting the victim to notify hospital staff.

Hospital personnel quickly contacted the police, and the victim filed a formal complaint regarding the theft. The suspected thief returned to the hospital later that day, around 3:15 PM, where he was subsequently arrested by law enforcement officials.

Upon his arrest, authorities discovered the patient's keys in the suspect's possession. Additionally, the police were able to recover the stolen mobile phone during the investigation. However, the cash taken from the wallet was not recovered, as the suspect admitted to having already spent it.

The individual was taken into police custody following his arrest, where he will face charges related to the theft. The incident has raised concerns about security within healthcare facilities, emphasizing the need for increased vigilance to protect patients' personal belongings.
