Berlin is set to redefine its skyline with the completion of the Estrel Tower, which at 176 meters will surpass the city's previous tallest building by 34 meters. The tower, located in the Neukölln district, is a significant addition to Berlin's architecture, marking a monumental step in the city's development over the past three and a half years.
The construction of the Estrel Tower is estimated to cost around EUR260 million and will house a luxurious hotel featuring 522 guest rooms. Among these accommodations, ten exclusive suites will offer a butler service. The building will also include 90 long-stay apartments, 9,000 square meters of office space, and co-working facilities.
Guests will enjoy breathtaking views of the city from the tower, with amenities planned for the upper levels including a restaurant and bar that provide sweeping panoramas of Berlin. A rooftop terrace will also be part of the design. Additionally, a fitness center spanning 1,400 square meters will feature a spa and wellness area, enhancing the appeal of the Estrel Tower as a premier destination.
During the recent topping-out ceremony, a notable political figure highlighted the tower's significance, stating that it symbolizes not only the growth of Berlin's skyline but also the city's evolving status as a leading hub for conferences and exhibitions in Europe. The ceremony featured a large traditional topping-out wreath, which was lifted to the building's pinnacle by crane, weighing in at 800 kilograms and measuring 2.5 by 2.5 meters.
The Estrel Tower is distinguished as Berlin's first skyscraper, meeting the criteria of a skyscraper with its height exceeding 150 meters. It stands on a robust foundation consisting of a 3.6-meter thick base and 52 piles, each 20 meters long and 1.8 meters in diameter. The glass façade is designed to prevent excessive heating of the interiors, ensuring comfort for occupants.
Currently, Germany features a total of 22 skyscrapers, with the majority located in Frankfurt, along with a notable tower in Bonn. The completion of the Estrel Tower will elevate Berlin's status in this category.
As for the timeline of this ambitious project, the developers are optimistic about welcoming guests to the Estrel Tower by mid-2026, although several significant tasks remain ahead.
