Beats to Launch New USB-C Cables Following iPhone Cases

Thu 27th Mar, 2025

Apple's subsidiary, Beats, is expanding its product line by introducing its own USB-C cables, following the recent release of iPhone cases. This move is part of Apple's strategy to leverage the brand recognition of Beats to market high-margin accessories.

According to various online retailers, at least three types of Beats cables are set to be available. Each cable will be 1.5 meters long and designed with a woven exterior to prevent tangling. The offerings will include a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-C to USB-A cable, and a USB-C to Lightning cable, despite Apple's transition to USB-C for its devices.

Beats is promoting these cables as being robust and extensively tested, claiming they are reinforced to prevent wear and tear. The standard color for the cables will be black, featuring a distinctive white Beats logo on the connectors. While the technical specifications indicate that these cables can support up to 60 watts of power and USB 2.0 data transfer speeds (up to 480 Mbps), there are plans to offer additional colors, including beige and red, with options for multi-packs also expected. The anticipated retail price for each cable is around 20 euros.

This initiative appears to be part of Apple's broader effort to enhance its lucrative accessories segment, which has seen growth with the introduction of Beats-branded iPhone cases compatible with all four models of the iPhone 16 series. Priced at 59 euros each, these cases are positioned slightly below the prices of similar Apple-branded products.

Since acquiring Beats in 2014 for a record amount, Apple has integrated both the hardware, particularly headphones, and the streaming technology into its ecosystem, notably in Apple Music. Reports suggest that Beats generates annual revenues of over a billion dollars, indicating a significant contribution to Apple's overall business.
