Bahnhofsmission at the Zoo Hosts Free Community Festival

Sat 26th Apr, 2025

The Bahnhofsmission at Zoo Berlin is opening its doors to the public for a special community festival aimed at fostering connections among diverse groups. This event, scheduled for Saturday, will feature a variety of free offerings including meals, entertainment, and activities for all ages.

The initiative seeks to create a welcoming environment where individuals from different backgrounds can come together. The director of the Bahnhofsmission emphasized the importance of such gatherings, especially for the homeless individuals who rely on their services. This festival offers them an opportunity to enjoy a respite from their challenging circumstances on the streets.

Among the highlights of the event are complimentary haircuts provided by the Barber Angels from 2 PM to 5 PM, alongside dance performances, live music, bingo games, a flea market, and a table tennis tournament. The festivities will run from 11 AM to 6 PM, providing ample time for community members to engage with one another and enjoy the day's activities.

In addition to the festival, the Bahnhofsmission is actively seeking volunteers to assist with its ongoing programs. Interested individuals can reach out to the volunteer coordinator for more information on how to get involved. The Bahnhofsmission and the adjacent center at the Zoo are in urgent need of support to continue their critical work.

The Zoo center serves as a community hub, housed in a repurposed police station within the train station complex. It not only offers basic necessities like food and clothing but also provides educational resources and counseling for those in need. The efforts of the Bahnhofsmission primarily focus on distributing essential supplies and facilitating personal interactions with individuals facing hardships.
