Serious Accident on B54 Involving Wrong-Way Driver

Siegen - A serious traffic accident occurred on the B54 involving a wrong-way driver, resulting in multiple injuries. The incident happened when a 20-year-old driver from Kreuztal and his 21-year-old girlfriend from Bad Berleburg were traveling on the road.

While attempting to overtake a vehicle driven by a 63-year-old man from Cologne, the young driver suddenly encountered a 74-year-old woman driving a Toyota in the wrong direction. Despite his efforts to brake, the driver was unable to avoid a head-on collision with the oncoming vehicle.

The impact of the crash was severe, causing the Polo driven by the young man to also hit the Golf of the 63-year-old driver. As a result, the 74-year-old woman from Gummersbach and her 87-year-old passenger from Drolshagen sustained serious injuries. The driver of the Polo suffered minor injuries, while his girlfriend suffered more severe injuries. The 63-year-old from Cologne also experienced light injuries.

Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and all injured parties were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The vehicles involved in the accident were rendered inoperable and had to be towed from the scene. The estimated damage to the vehicles is approximately EUR30,000.

Authorities closed a section of the B54 between Kreuztal and Krombach heading towards Olpe until 9:11 PM to facilitate the investigation and cleanup operations.
