In a curious case from Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, a 58-year-old woman has been apprehended after staying in hotels for an astonishing 15 years without settling her bills. This unusual situation came to light when hotel staff at a facility in Paulsstadt alerted the police following the woman's latest check-in.

The woman, originally from Düsseldorf, had checked into the hotel claiming she had misplaced her credit card, which raised suspicions among the staff. They reported their concerns to law enforcement, particularly noting her odd behavior during the check-in process. According to police reports, she had intended to leave the hotel without paying the outstanding amount of approximately 500 euros.

Law enforcement officials were able to detain the suspect at the hotel premises. Shortly thereafter, the Schwerin District Court issued a warrant for her arrest upon the request of the public prosecutor's office, leading to her immediate detention.

Investigations revealed that this was not an isolated incident. The woman has been identified as a repeat offender, having systematically targeted hotels over the past 15 years. Authorities disclosed that they are aware of over 100 similar incidents where she had absconded from various hotels without payment.

In addition to her recent escapades, the woman had multiple outstanding police notices regarding her whereabouts. Her case has drawn considerable attention due to the duration and scale of her alleged fraudulent activities.

This incident raises questions about hotel management practices and the measures in place to prevent such long-standing fraudulent behavior. As this case unfolds, it highlights the importance of vigilance and the need for improved systems to safeguard against similar occurrences in the hospitality industry.
