The US-based robotics firm Apptronik has successfully raised $350 million in a Series A funding round aimed at advancing the development and production of its humanoid robot, Apollo. This financial boost will facilitate further enhancements of the Apollo robot, as well as research into additional humanoid robotics.

The investment comes from prominent venture capital firms, including B Capital and Capital Factory, with support from tech giant Google. Investors are optimistic that Apptronik will accelerate the evolution of Apollo into a highly intelligent machine capable of effective communication and collaboration with humans in various work environments.

This substantial funding is expected to hasten the development of Apollo and other humanoid robots, with plans for diverse robot designs to cater to a wide range of applications. These applications span several industries, including logistics, manufacturing, elderly care, healthcare, and household assistance.

Central to Apptronik's mission is a human-centric approach to robot development. The company aims to create not only highly functional robots but also those that are user-friendly, enabling seamless interaction and communication between humans and robots.

Initially, Apptronik intends to prepare Apollo for mass production and expand its manufacturing capabilities in response to increasing industrial demand. The company reports significant interest from various sectors, particularly the automotive, electronics, logistics, beverage bottling, and consumer goods industries.

Founded in 2016 within the Human Centered Robotics Lab at the University of Texas in Austin, Apptronik has developed a total of 15 robotic systems to date, including the humanoid robot Valkyrie for NASA. Following that, the Apollo robot was designed specifically for industrial applications. Apptronik has established partnerships with leading tech companies like Nvidia and Google DeepMind to enhance Apollo's intelligence and manipulation capabilities.

Notably, companies such as Mercedes-Benz and GXO Logistics are already utilizing the Apollo robot effectively within their operations.
