Apple Delays iPhone SE 4 Launch to Next Week

Thu 13th Feb, 2025

Apple's highly anticipated iPhone SE 4, initially expected to launch in the week starting February 10, has encountered a delay, according to recent reports. The device's unveiling, which was widely speculated to occur this week, did not take place as expected, leading to speculation about a new timeline for its release.

Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, who previously indicated that the iPhone SE 4 would be announced soon, has now updated his timeline, suggesting that the launch has been pushed to the following week. Despite this setback, Gurman maintains that the announcement is still imminent.

According to sources, Apple has already begun product briefings with journalists, hinting that the announcement may be made via a press release on the company's website, rather than through a live event. The specifics regarding whether a video presentation will accompany the announcement remain unclear.

The iPhone SE 4 holds significant importance for Apple, particularly as it is expected to be priced under EUR600. This model is anticipated to incorporate several of Apple's proprietary technologies, a first for the SE series. Among the innovations is Apple's first 5G modem, which has been in development for several years, and new custom chips for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

In terms of design, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to resemble the standard iPhone 14, featuring a single rear camera. The device is also likely to eliminate the home button in favor of a full-display screen and Face ID recognition technology, aligning it with the latest trends in Apple's smartphone lineup.

Additional features are expected to include the A18 chip, which is derived from the iPhone 16, enabling enhanced capabilities, as well as a USB-C port. The absence of a USB-C port in previous models, including the iPhone 14 and SE 3, has led to their recent removal from the market.

While some speculate that the delay may be a strategic move by Apple due to leaked information about the device, it is unlikely that such external factors will significantly influence the company's long-term product strategy. As the anticipation for the iPhone SE 4 builds, many are eager to see how it competes in the entry-level smartphone market.
