Russian Journalist Anna Prokofjewa Killed by Landmine Near Ukraine Border

Belgorod, Russia - Anna Prokofjewa, a 35-year-old Russian television journalist known for her work in conflict zones, has died after stepping on a landmine near the Ukrainian border. The explosion also resulted in severe injuries to her cameraman, Dmitri Wolkow.

Prokofjewa was associated with Russian state media, including the propaganda outlet 'Russia Today' and later worked as a military correspondent for Channel One, focusing on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. She had been active in reporting from the front lines, garnering attention for her pro-government narratives.

Following the incident, Channel One claimed that the landmine had been placed by Ukrainian forces, stating that Prokofjewa died while fulfilling her journalistic duties. The area where the incident occurred, Demidowka in the Krasnojaruschski district of Belgorod, is frequently subjected to aerial and artillery bombardments from Ukrainian military operations.

Prokofjewa often portrayed herself in military attire on social media, sometimes featuring the letter 'Z', which has become a symbol of support for Russia's military actions in Ukraine. Her posts frequently conveyed strong nationalistic sentiments, reflecting her unwavering support for the Russian military.
