The ash from the Icelandic volcano was still dangerous for aircraft, said a DFS spokeswoman. The extension of the closure of airspace to 8 p.m. does not flights will definitely resume by that time.
In Austria since 5 a.m. takeoffs and landings have been allowed. British airspace will remain closed till 7 p.m. (local time/ 8 p.m. EDT).
