Köln - In a disturbing incident late at night, a group of youths targeted a kiosk in Köln-Bocklemünd, resulting in vandalism and an attempted arson. The event took place on September 5, 2025, at approximately 11:30 PM near the Görlinger Zentrum.

Witnesses report that the group, consisting of several young individuals, initially confronted the 52-year-old employee of the kiosk with aggressive behavior, verbally provoking him and launching stones in his direction. One member of the group, described as wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap, reportedly seized a cash tray and threw it at the cashier.

Further escalating the situation, the youths obstructed the entrance by wedging a trash bin against the door and subsequently set it ablaze. The employee noticed flames at the rear door of the kiosk shortly thereafter. Fortunately, he managed to break through the door to extinguish the fire before it could cause significant damage or harm.

Authorities have confirmed that the employee was unharmed during the ordeal, but the incident has prompted an investigation by local police. They are currently treating the case as serious arson and are actively seeking witnesses. Anyone with information related to the event is urged to contact the police at 0221 229-0 or via email at poststelle.koeln@polizei.nrw.de.

This alarming behavior reflects broader concerns about youth vandalism and public safety in urban areas. Community leaders are calling for increased vigilance and proactive measures to prevent such incidents in the future, emphasizing the need for constructive engagement with the youth in the area.

As investigations continue, local residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to help maintain safety and security in their neighborhoods.
