Munich. With the winter sales, the main pedestrian zone in Munich turned into a paradise for bargain hunters. Shops are promising price reductions of up to 80 percent! The seasonal goods have been reduced already since Christmas, and with the winter sales, the big discount finale has started, reports Muenchener Merkur newspaper.
"Two thirds of the shops are participating in WSV (Winterschlussverkauf)," says Bernd Ohlmann of the Bavarian Association of Retailers. Since the discount Law was changed 2001, officially there are no seasonal sales anymore, because their distributors can reduce the prices for their products throughout the year. "And since 2001, not only seasonal goods may be reduced, but everything from electronics to furniture," - says Ohlmann. The most reduced prices now are on winter goods: "The storages are full and the dealers need space for the spring collection."
