Wegovy and Zepbound Manufacturers Reduce Prices for Uninsured Patients

In a significant move to enhance accessibility, the manufacturers of two well-known weight-loss medications, Wegovy and Zepbound, have announced substantial price reductions aimed at individuals without insurance coverage.

Novo Nordisk, the company responsible for Wegovy, revealed on March 7 that it has decreased the monthly price of the medication by 23%, bringing it down to $499 from its previous rate of $650. This reduction applies to all dosage levels of Wegovy, making it more affordable for uninsured patients and those whose insurance plans do not cover weight-loss drugs.

Similarly, Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Zepbound, has also adjusted its pricing structure. The cost for the starter dose has been lowered to $349 per month, while larger doses will be available for $499 through the company's self-pay initiative.

Patients typically begin their treatment with lower doses and gradually increase to higher doses over time, allowing for a tailored weight-loss journey.
