The latest rankings from Forbes reveal that Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, continues to hold the title of the world's wealthiest individual, with a staggering net worth of approximately $342 billion. This marks an increase of $147 billion compared to spring 2024, despite a significant decline in Tesla's stock price in recent weeks. Musk's wealth has nearly doubled since last year, solidifying his position at the top of the list.

In a close second is Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, whose fortune is estimated at $216 billion, just ahead of Amazon's Jeff Bezos, with a net worth of $215 billion. This trio dominates the upper echelons of the billionaire rankings, showcasing the immense wealth accumulated by tech moguls in recent years.

For the first time, the global count of billionaires has surpassed the 3,000 mark, with an impressive total of 3,000 individuals boasting a combined wealth of $16.1 trillion. This growth is notable, especially when compared to 2005, when there were only 587 billionaires worldwide. The United States and China lead the world in terms of the number of billionaires, with 902 and 450 respectively. India ranks third with 205 billionaires, while Germany follows closely with 171.

The richest individual in Germany is Dieter Schwarz, the owner of Lidl and Kaufland, with a net worth of $41 billion, placing him at 37th globally. Schwarz remains a low-profile figure, steering clear of public attention. Following him are Klaus-Michael Kühne, the honorary chairman of Kuehne & Nagel, and Reinhold Würth, whose family's wealth is estimated to be around $35.1 billion.

Among the wealthiest women in Germany, Susanne Klatten, an heir to BMW, leads with an estimated fortune of $25.2 billion. She is followed by Beate Heister, the daughter of Aldi's founder, with a net worth of approximately $15 billion.

Interestingly, the youngest billionaire on the Forbes list is German national Johannes von Baumbach, who at just 19 years old holds shares valued at $5.4 billion in the family-owned pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim. His siblings also feature in the billionaire rankings, alongside other young inheritors such as Sophie-Luise Fielmann, who has a net worth of $2.8 billion, and Kevin David Lehmann, co-owner of dm, with $3.6 billion.

This remarkable surge in the number of billionaires and their collective wealth underscores the growing economic divide and the increasing concentration of wealth among the ultra-rich, particularly in the technology sector.
