Vodafone Expands eSIM Offerings for Travelers

Thu 5th Jun, 2025

Vodafone has enhanced its eSIM offerings for international travelers, introducing a new platform that allows customers to purchase data packages for over 200 destinations worldwide.

The company announced that its Vodafone Travel eSIM can now be utilized in more than 700 mobile networks across various countries. These packages are designed to supplement existing mobile plans, offering data allowances while calls and text messages will continue to be billed according to the customer's roaming plan. Importantly, this eSIM service is available to all users, regardless of whether they are Vodafone customers.

The data packages range from 1 gigabyte to 20 gigabytes, with durations varying from 7 to 90 days, depending on the selected option. Pricing differs based on the package size and destination, with 1.5 gigabytes available for all of Europe, including the UK, Switzerland, and Turkey, at a cost of 4 euros, while 20 gigabytes for the United States is priced at 26 euros.

Purchases can be made through the revamped Vodafone Travel app for both Android and iOS, or directly on the Vodafone website. Once a customer completes the purchase, they receive a QR code via email to facilitate the eSIM installation. Alternatively, the app allows for direct installation without the need for a QR code. Activation can occur anytime within 30 days following the purchase.

The eSIM packages also support hotspot usage and are compatible with 5G networks in regions where such services are available. Currently, Vodafone claims that its eSIMs function in at least 98 countries, although detailed information regarding network partners in those countries is not provided.

Vodafone has expanded its network partnerships for this service, indicating that it operates independently of third-party platforms, such as those used by other eSIM providers catering to travelers.

Given the competitive landscape of eSIM offerings for travelers, it is advisable for users to compare prices and services among various providers. Many companies, including Airalo and Travsim, also offer similar services, and users should consider their own carrier's travel packages as well. Additionally, it is important to note that not all smartphones and carriers allow simultaneous use of multiple eSIMs.
