Unna experienced a tumultuous city festival over the weekend, with several incidents of violence leading to injuries and police intervention. The festivities, held on September 6-7, 2025, attracted a large crowd but were marred by multiple altercations.
Early on Saturday morning, at approximately 1:00 AM, a 22-year-old Afghan national from Hamm was assaulted by a group while walking along Bahnhofstraße. The attack left him injured and necessitated police involvement.
Earlier that same morning, a confrontation occurred around 12:25 AM at the market square. A 17-year-old German from Unna engaged in a dispute with a 58-year-old German from Kamen, resulting in minor injuries to the younger individual.
On Sunday morning, at approximately 1:40 AM, another incident unfolded at Gerhart-Hauptmann-Straße, where a scuffle broke out among several individuals. During this altercation, a 38-year-old German-Russian from Bönen was attacked by an unidentified man and woman. The second individual fled the scene before law enforcement could gather their information.
In a separate incident on Saturday evening around 7:10 PM, a serious case of bodily harm was reported on Burgstraße. A 15-year-old Croatian from Unna allegedly filled a vape device with an unknown substance before giving it to a 14-year-old French girl from Unna, who subsequently required hospitalization.
Additionally, a report was filed regarding the theft of a backpack, which was later returned to its owner. The festival also saw reports of public insults, a suspected case of drunk driving involving an E-scooter, and a traffic violation concerning an unregistered motorized skateboard. One individual was accused of insulting police officers during these events.
One notable arrest involved a 38-year-old man originally from Serbia and Montenegro, who was apprehended due to an outstanding warrant related to illegal residency. He was later released following police procedures.
Despite these incidents, the overall atmosphere of the city festival was described as lively and well-attended, with the majority of the events proceeding without major disturbances.
