Tragic Incident in Mediterranean: Three Migrants Confirmed Dead

In a harrowing event during a crossing from Libya to Italy, at least three migrants have drowned, including two young children aged between three and four years old. This incident was reported by the German humanitarian organization Resqship, which operates the rescue ship 'Nadir'. A total of 59 individuals were rescued from the inflatable boat, which had set sail from the Libyan port of Sawija.

After a day at sea, the boat's motor failed, leaving the migrants vulnerable to the elements. The vessel was eventually spotted by a surveillance aircraft from the EU border agency Frontex, drifting south of the Italian island of Lampedusa.
