A shocking incident has unfolded in Rome, where the bodies of a woman and an infant were found in the renowned Villa Doria Pamphili park, a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike. The discovery was made by two women who were playing volleyball in the park, situated near the Vatican, when they stumbled upon the lifeless body of the infant. Initially, they mistook the infant's body for a doll, but upon closer inspection, they realized the grave reality as the child bore visible injuries.

Shortly after this grim find, law enforcement authorities conducted a search of the vicinity and discovered the body of a woman a few hundred meters away, concealed in a black plastic bag. The woman was clothed but lacked any identification, raising suspicions about her identity and potential connection to the infant.

Investigators are exploring the possibility that the deceased may be mother and daughter, but this remains unconfirmed. The results from the upcoming autopsy are expected to provide critical information regarding their relationship and the circumstances surrounding their deaths. Authorities are currently scrutinizing surveillance footage from cameras located in the park to piece together the timeline of events leading to this tragedy. The park, which covers approximately 1.8 square kilometers, is one of the largest green spaces in Rome and serves as a popular area for joggers, walkers, and picnickers.

Villa Doria Pamphili, a historic estate dating back to the 17th century, is not only a park but also houses the villa of the same name, which is frequently used for state banquets and other official gatherings. This spring, it was notably the venue where Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni hosted British King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are reaching out to local hospitals to gather any relevant information that could assist in identifying the deceased individuals. The community is left in shock as they await further details about this tragic incident that has marred one of Rome's most beloved recreational spaces.
