Tragic Accident Claims Life of German Hiker on Mount Olympus

Athens - A hiking trip turned fatal for a group of German adventurers on the legendary Mount Olympus in Greece, where a 60-year-old woman tragically fell to her death at an altitude of 2,700 meters. The incident occurred on Thursday around midday as the group was en route to the summit, which reaches nearly 3,000 meters.

According to reports from local media, including the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, the woman lost her footing while navigating difficult terrain on the mountain's eastern flank and fell severely. The precise circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear as investigations are currently underway.

Emergency services were promptly dispatched to conduct a large-scale rescue operation. However, the challenging conditions of the rugged landscape posed significant obstacles. By the time rescuers arrived in the afternoon, it was reported that the woman was already unconscious. Rescuers managed to transport her on a stretcher to a plateau, where they spent the night. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries during the night.

When a helicopter arrived on Friday morning, the medical team could only confirm her death. Local authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fall.
