Tourists Evacuated Due to Wildfire Threat along Croatia's Adriatic Coast

A significant wildfire is currently wreaking havoc along the Croatian Adriatic coastline, prompting the evacuation of numerous tourists from several popular seaside destinations. Reports indicate that hundreds of individuals are being relocated as authorities work to contain the blaze.

The fire originated approximately 30 kilometers south of Split, particularly affecting the localities of Pisak and Marusici. Marusici, which is home to around 200 residents and a large number of tourists, has been evacuated. The local water police are actively assisting in the evacuation efforts by transporting people to safety via boat.

As the situation escalates, numerous houses and vehicles have been engulfed in flames, raising concerns over the extent of the damage. Evacuations are ongoing, as authorities continue to assess the fire's impact on surrounding communities.

Firefighters have reported that the wildfire is currently out of control, with aerial firefighting efforts being employed. Reports suggest that fires erupted simultaneously in three distinct locations near Makarska, raising suspicions of deliberate ignition. Authorities are currently interviewing individuals with prior records of arson as part of their inquiry.
