Suspect Arrested in Halle (Saale) for Riding Train Without Ticket

Fri 30th May, 2025

In a recent incident, a man traveling without a ticket on an Intercity-Express train prompted a swift response from law enforcement authorities. On May 29, 2025, at approximately 4:10 a.m., the train conductor reported the presence of an individual without a valid ticket on the route from Naumburg to Halle (Saale). The Federal Police were already stationed at the Halle (Saale) main train station, ready to address the situation as the train arrived.

The suspect, a 24-year-old male from Poland, provided his personal information upon being approached by the police. A subsequent verification of his identity revealed that he was wanted by the public prosecutor's office in Nürnberg-Fürth. This was due to an outstanding arrest warrant issued after he was convicted in October 2023 for trespassing, for which he had received a six-month prison sentence that he had yet to serve.

The police informed the man about the arrest warrant, leading to his immediate detention. Following the arrest, he was transported to a correctional facility. Authorities have also been notified of his new location, and he now faces additional charges for fraudulently obtaining services.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to ensure safety and compliance within public transportation systems, as well as the consequences of fare evasion and outstanding legal issues.
