Spotify has announced significant updates for users of its free subscription tier, expanding their listening options and enhancing user control. The music streaming service has made it possible for these users to select and listen to any song they wish.
Previously limited in their capabilities, free users can now easily search for tracks, play them instantly, and share their favorite songs with others. Additionally, the ability to create playlists has been unlocked for free users, a feature that was previously exclusive to paying subscribers. Users can compile playlists and add songs, with Spotify's algorithm suggesting further tracks that align with individual tastes.
Another exciting update is the introduction of customizable playlist covers. Users can personalize their playlists with images, colors, text, and graphic elements, regardless of whether they are using iOS or Android devices. To create a cover for a playlist, users simply need to tap on the three-dot menu and select the "Create Cover" option. However, it's important to note that each playlist can only have one cover at a time; any new cover will replace the existing one.
A feature dubbed "Daylist" is also being rolled out. This innovative tool tracks the types of music users listen to at different times of the day or week, adapting to their preferences automatically. For instance, if users are looking for songs that match their morning workout vibes, the Daylist will provide suggestions tailored to that mood. Moreover, users can save and duplicate their Daylists for future use.
The new "Discover Weekly" playlist will also showcase personalized song recommendations each week based on users' listening habits. Meanwhile, the "Release Radar" feature will highlight the latest tracks from artists that users follow, ensuring they stay updated with new music.
Lastly, there have been enhancements to the lyrics feature. When a song with available lyrics is playing, users can swipe up from the bottom of the current playback view to see the lyrics in real-time. Additionally, lyrics can now be shared easily through the app.
