Spotify Launches Partner Program in Germany

Thu 27th Mar, 2025

Spotify is set to introduce its Partner Program in Germany on April 29, enabling creators to monetize their content through integrated advertising. This initiative will also be available in the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom, with plans to expand to eight additional countries.

The Partner Program aims to provide registered creators with additional revenue opportunities by allowing them to earn money from their content. Earnings will be based on listener counts, with revenue generated through advertisements in the free version of Spotify, as well as views of videos in Spotify Premium. The primary focus of this program is on podcast creators.

Existing advertising partnerships that podcasters have already incorporated into their episodes will remain unaffected by these new opportunities. Instead, the Partner Program is designed to serve as an additional income stream. Spotify has reported a remarkable 300% increase in partner earnings compared to the previous January.

According to Roman Wasenmüller, Spotify's head of podcasting, the platform aims to empower creators by providing them with various options to engage with their audience in a format that best suits their style, whether that be audio, video, or a combination of both. Creators will receive 50% of the revenue generated through Spotify's advertising.

To qualify for the Partner Program, creators in the US, Australia, and Canada must meet specific criteria, including having at least 12 episodes, 10,000 streaming hours in the past 30 days, and 2,000 unique listeners during the same time frame. Similar benchmarks are expected to apply in Germany.

Additionally, creators may distribute existing paid content through Spotify, utilizing subscriptions from platforms like Patreon or Substack. The requirements for this option include having at least two episodes and 100 distinct listeners in the last 60 days, allowing them to upload content to Spotify and potentially reach a broader audience.
