Combatting Snoring: Solutions for a Restful Night

Sat 1st Feb, 2025

Snoring is a common issue that can significantly disrupt the sleep of partners. Recent research indicates that a considerable number of individuals in relationships experience disturbances due to their partner's snoring. According to a survey conducted by the health insurance provider Pronova BKK, approximately 46% of respondents reported that their significant other snores. Notably, nearly one-third of women find this disruptive to the relationship, in contrast to about 20% of men.

In an effort to mitigate these disturbances and maintain harmonious relationships, many individuals who snore are taking proactive measures. For example, 39% of snorers attempt to sleep on their sides, while 4% use nasal strips to alleviate the problem. Additionally, 3% have opted for surgical interventions to address their snoring.

Beyond snoring, couples often face other sleep-related challenges. The survey revealed that 10% of respondents are disturbed by their partner's tossing and turning during the night. A further 9% struggle with cold feet, and 7% are frustrated by the use of mobile phones in bed.

Interestingly, some individuals feel they would sleep better without their partner present. The survey showed that 34% of participants believe they would achieve a more restful night's sleep solo, while 22% admitted to frequently relocating during the night due to disturbances caused by their partner. In fact, several respondents reported maintaining separate bedrooms to facilitate better sleep conditions.

These findings highlight the impact of sleep disturbances on relationships and underscore the importance of finding effective solutions to enhance sleep quality for both partners.
